1. HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN TEACHING YOGA FOR?
5 years!
2. WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO BECOME A YOGA TEACHER?
All the amazing teachers I had and still have the pleasure of practising with that shared/share their knowledge and encouragement. I will be forever a yoga student, we can learn so much from everyone and everything we experience.
3. WHERE DID YOU COMPLETE YOUR TRAINING?
I completed my first 200hour tt in koh Samui Thailand, such an intense time but utterly gorgeous, definitely one of the best leaps of faith I’ve ever taken. I’ve just come back from my second 200hr training in Kerala, India which was an entirely different experience but just as life changing.
4. WHAT QUALIFICATIONS HAVE YOU RECEIVED FROM YOUR TRAINING?
200 hour yoga alliance certified Absolute Hot Yoga & 200 hour yoga alliance certified in Ashtanga primary & inversions
5. WHAT IS IT YOU ENJOY MOST ABOUT TEACHING YOGA?
There’s nothing I don’t like about teaching…but my favourite is probably being a part of people’s journey and watching them grow stronger and lighter in both body and mind. So many wonderful people have encouraged me along the way and it feels so good to be able to give a bit of that back. I also love love love the energy we have the potential to create as a room full of focused and compassionate human beings, something we very rarely get a chance to share these days. I feel very privileged to get to experience that on a daily basis.
6. WHAT IS YOUR TOP TIP FOR PEOPLE THINKING ABOUT STARTING TO PRACTISE YOGA?
Just do it! absolutely no bad could possibly come from that decision. I was your typical ‘oh no yoga’s not for me, I’m not flexible’ when obviously that’s the whole point. When I first discovered yoga, I couldn’t touch my toes and was suffering from severe lower back and neck tension thanks to a whole lot of high impact training and terrible posture. In 4 years yoga has completely changed by life in the best way possible. I would encourage anyone and everyone to give it a go no matter what age or shape. It rocks!
7. DO YOU HAVE A FAVOURITE POSTURE?
Oooo that’s a tough one… it definitely depends on my mood. I love being upside down and I’m really enjoying exploring more and more inversions at the moment.
8. WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR OTHER INTERESTS OUTSIDE OF YOGA?
Food glorious food, making said glorious food, a perfect flat white from Bold Street Coffee and the I crossword. Long walks in the countryside, bike rides, smiling a lot and watching other people smile a lot. My family and spending quality time with them, usually pretending I don’t like playing monopoly when secretly I love it. Playing the guitar and singing and listening to other people playing the guitar and singing. Figuring out new and intriguing ways to use coconut oil, eating peanut butter with a spoon out of the jar and then reflecting on how good the peanut butter out of the jar was. Reading a good book, Star Wars, pretending I’m a Jedi knight and spooning!
9. WHAT WOULD YOU SAY THE BIGGEST BENEFIT OF PRACTISING YOGA IS?
I think it’s totally unique to the individual but I will say, it has a way of letting you know exactly what you need and helps you to become more focused in achieving that. Suddenly the things that weigh you down, start shedding away.
10. WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO SOMEONE COMING TO ONE OF YOUR CLASSES FOR THE FIRST TIME?
Enjoy yourself, never judge yourself and let the sweat pour. In the moment it may feel hard, but in the morning the magical feelings will walk you right back to your mat to do it all over again.
