Meet Your Teacher: GabrielaMarch 10th 2016
Here at Your Yoga we see you as part of the family, so we're giving you chance to meet our teachers and get an insight into who they are and why they love yoga! First up we'll be meeting the lovely Gabriela Byrne...
1. HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN TEACHING YOGA FOR?
My professional teaching began about 3 years ago before which I was always passing on new skills to willing friends or anyone who seemed to be listening!
2. WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO BECOME A YOGA TEACHER?
My inspiration to become a yoga teacher came from the practice itself. My personal transformation was enough for me to know that this was something I wanted to share, and that was early on in my journey. Knowing that the practice is an infinite journey running parallel to the journey of the self is something that leaves me humble, as I am forever a student just able to pass on my own experience to those who are intrigued. Yoga has taken me from my head to my heart where I am still exploring the depth of this space, this is my inspiration to continue guiding people towards their own truth.
3. WHERE DID YOU COMPLETE YOUR TRAINING?
I completed my teacher trainings in Mysore and Goa, India.
4. WHAT QUALIFICATIONS HAVE YOU RECEIVED FROM YOUR TRAINING?
My qualifications include 500hr Hatha and 500hr vinyasa flow both Yoga Alliance.
5. WHAT IS IT YOU ENJOY MOST ABOUT TEACHING YOGA?
It's hard to explain the rewards I gain from teaching, I just love it. I love helping people connect to something deeper, to take them on an inward journey and momentarily remove them from the outside world is very personal to both myself and the practitioner and I'm rewarded just knowing that in whatever way is unique to the individual this practice will positively effect everybody who dedicates time to explore.
6. WHAT IS YOUR TOP TIP FOR PEOPLE THINKING ABOUT STARTING TO PRACTISE YOGA?
My top tip for people wanting to start is try all different styles and find what suits you! Take it easy and find the beauty in knowing there is always somewhere further to go, so essentially we are all beginners always learning and growing on this infinite journey together...
7. DO YOU HAVE A FAVOURITE POSTURE?
My favourite posture tends to change with my mood and how my body feels. I like inversions and back bends and twists and balances so basically all! Haha!
8. WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR OTHER INTERESTS OUTSIDE OF YOGA?
I like walking in nature, swimming, eating, creating in the kitchen, eating, laughing, dancing, wooden spoons, sun baking, exploring new places, making new friends, fringes, funky hair colours, connecting with old friends, singing in my car, coconut oil, lavender scents, freckles, Afros, cosy socks, festivals, drums, Brazil nuts, the ocean, elephants, dogs, mud baths, natural springs, salt, elastic bands, April fools day, Autumn, hats, sneezing, teasing, massages, tickles, rom coms, music, reading, forests, bedtime, pesto, outdoor showers, India, bike rides, long hugs, secret beaches, silence, being barefoot, vintage clothes, flowers, sunsets, sunrise, discovering something new that I didn't know I liked...
